Hi,
I have a 2 sided design where the bottom layer is simply a ground plane connected to the top only by via's, everything else is top layer SMD.
Do I select that the solder mask is different both sides? I only require a uniform protective coating on the bottom as nothing is soldered to this layer.

Hi John,
In this case please select different soldermasks.
When you have smds on one or both sides always select different soldermasks.
