Solder mask over vias
Hi,
I am designing a PCB with some BGAs and this requires some clarity on the vias to ensure a good fabrication : is it possible to have the soldermask recover a via ? With or without the hole itself ?
According to the "Technical" specification on the website, the minimum soldermask for drills is 5 or 6 mil but the terms "drills" and "vias" aren't well defined and I can't find if this applies to vias as well. How do you differentiate between them ?
Best regards
Axel
Re: Solder mask over vias
Hi Axel,
Yes you can cover the vias in soldermask.
Most softwares contain an option to cover the vias in soldermask so you can probally set it up your self. Otherwise you can add a special request to your order requesting that the vias be covered in soldermask.
